FloridaDamp — Dry Out Florida Humidity After Storms

Field notes

Reed Lang on humidity. Carlo DeLuca on the pipe.

Coastal Florida air-handler closet with metal overflow pan holding water and a white float switch mounted high above the water line, PVC lines above, palm light through the open door

The Closet Float Never Cut the Coil The pan was full. The unit was still running. The float switch never saw the water. Check the height before you open the PVC.

Coastal Florida air-handler closet with white PVC condensate trap that holds no water after a quiet week

The Closet Trap Went Dry After the Quiet Week The unit sat. The trap dried. The pan held water the next morning. Prime the condensate trap before you chase the line.

Coastal Florida media room with a low sofa, dark TV wall, and closed door in soft morning light, no people and no text

The Media Room Held the Quiet Morning The hall felt easier. The media room with the door shut still held the quiet morning. October is not a reason to crack that door into the house.

Coastal Florida condo living room with large glass doors facing the water in soft morning light, upholstered seating on a rug, no people and no text

The Condo Living Space Held the Mid-October Band The house felt easier. The condo living space still held the mid-October band against the glass. October is not a reason to open that slider into the conditioned rooms.

Coastal Florida air-handler closet showing white PVC condensate pipe running uphill from the coil, with standing water in the metal overflow pan

The Primary Line Pitched Back to the Coil The outdoor dump was dry. The closet pan was not. The primary PVC line pitched the wrong way and sent condensate back into the pan.
